Ana Baciu
Mixed Media Artist & Kind Badass
Hello! I’m Ana Baciu, a multimedia designer, artist, and eternal dreamer who loves the dance between the old and the new, the tactile and the intangible. My current interest and focus is linocut—a practice as meditative as it is messy, where every carved line feels like a quiet dialogue with the universe. In my hands, blocks of linoleum become whimsical stories: a cat setting off on an epic journey, a leaf caught mid-whisper with the wind, or a landscape that feels plucked from a daydream.I was born in Romania in the 80's, during a time when scarcity often overshadowed abundance. Yet, my childhood glowed with magic, thanks to two remarkable women who shaped my world. My grandmother, the keeper of gardens and stories, taught me to listen to the quiet wisdom of nature. My mother, with her early computers and beeping printers, showed me the beauty of invention and sparked my fascination with technology. Together, they planted seeds of freedom, curiosity, and imagination—seeds that continue to bloom in my art. Before I found myself carving stories into linoleum, I wandered other creative paths. I trained as an architect, worked for over a decade as a visual and UX designer, and even explored contemporary jewelry design, crafting tiny silver sculptures to be worn close to the heart. Each chapter taught me something essential: the patience of process, the importance of connection, and the joy of bringing ideas to life with my hands.Today, my creative practice is an ever-evolving journey. Linocut remains my anchor, but I also explore digital illustration, mixed media, and performative arts. I’ve collaborated on projects that merge movement and technology, like using augmented reality to bring ephemeral ideas to life or experimenting with AI to question how we define identity and meaning in a digital age.Living between countries has taught me that boundaries—whether cultural, aesthetic, or personal—are only as rigid as we let them be. My nomadic life weaves itself into my work, creating art that feels at once rooted and free, familiar and surprising.Currently, I’m studying psychology with the dream of becoming an art therapist. Through my shop, Frunzaa Design Boutique, I share linocuts , prints and handcrafted designs that invite a sense of wonder and connection. I like to think of my work as little windows—portals, really—into the stories we tell ourselves and the ones we want to live. For me, art is an act of both play and introspection, a way of asking questions and holding space for the answers to unfold. Whether I’m carving a block of linoleum, sketching out digital dreams, or stitching together fragments of inspiration, I’m always searching for those moments of connection—the kind that make you pause, smile, and feel a little more alive. So, come along. Let’s explore these islands of freedom and wonder together.
